In a surprise appointment, Lactalis UK announced last Friday that Mark Tayor is to take over from Andy Smith as managing director in July, with Smith to become chairman. Taylor worked for Dairy Crest for several years before taking over as milk procurement director in 2009 but left 2yrs later after ‘disagreements’. It is believed he has been helping Dairy Partners at their Saputo/Dansco cheese plant in south Wales in the interim.
