Food Master International, the business acquired by Lactalis in 2004, have announced the construction of a new dairy plant in Kazakhstan, Central Asia. Kazakhstan is around four times the size of Texas and inhabited by 19.6m people, with a GDP of US$496.2bn—less than a quarter of the Texan economy. Since 2004, Lactalis have acquired complementary businesses, modernising and expanding Food Master, and have developed a dairy farming operation supported by EBRD loans. They have also developed a distribution network in the country. Food Master today run three plants with a daily output capacity of 300t of retail products.
