US butter production in April jumped 6.4%, compared with a year earlier, to 176m lb. Cheddar cheese production in April totaled 395m lb, down 0.3% from a year earlier but Italian type cheese increased 3.7% to 437m lb. Total cheese production reached 992m lb, up 1.4%.
