Dutch FrieslandCampina will introduce their meat–free products to the UK in early October. After the Tender’lish brand performed well in Belgium, Germany and Netherlands, F/C see their meat–free chicken, produced using 60% skimmed milk, potentially invigorating a declining alternative meat sector in the UK.
The German-based IFE institute’s estimated average EU raw milk value was down 0.6c this week to 35.8c/kg at the farmgate level. This price is based on official butter and SMP prices in Germany, France and the Netherlands. The average price for SMP in the three markets is down €32 to €2,323/t and the average for butter is down €68 at €4,537/t.
The Dutch Dairy Board/ZuivelNL have cut four of their official dairy commodity prices this week. Butter is down a resounding €130 to €4,390/t, WMP is down €50 to €3,350/t, SMP (food) is down €30 to €2,180/t (its lowest since December 2020), whey powder price is down €20 to €540/t—an eight-year low, SMP (feed) was left unchanged at €2,110/t.
